We leave feeling star struck when we spend time with one of Vancouver's finest Cake Artists - Peter Fong from Ganache Patisserie. After studying at one of the most prestigious european culinary schools and then making a mark in Vancouver, Peter has taken creativity to the next level. Recently we had an opportunity to ask Peter a bit more about his lavish cake designs. One of the most luxurious additions to Peter's cakes is incorporating Swavorski crystals into cakes with the contrasting look of organic scrollwork and leaves against the classic diamond and square patterns! WOW!
What is the most lavish cake you have ever designed?
" The most lavish cake I have had the pleasure of designing was for a Marie Antoinette themed wedding. The cake incorporated many classic French themes with stripes and bows and scrollwork along with cameo pendants and pink macarons." This custom design was created for one of CountDown Events' clients (their wedding feature will be posted soon!)
The Ganache Client Experience:
" When meeting with brides, for the most part they don't really have a solid idea of what they are looking for exactly. Therefore, the first consultation is a feeling out process for me to see what their wedding style is and what type of look they are wanting. After I see what they like or don't like, I can start to imagine or envision the look of their cake and start sketching out ideas for them. In terms of cake flavours, most brides have a sense of what they prefer, but usually we open up their imagination to what their wedding cake could taste like after sampling some of the flavour combinations that we offer. "
Why do you love what you do?
" The best part of my job is seeing and hearing my clients after they have just sampled some of our cakes! It is deeply satisfying to make people happy while they enjoy tasting what we have created." We have had the pleasure to work Ganache on several occasions and on various Weddings we must say that our clients were given star treatment!
