Many people wonder what our lovely and super-busy team is up to on a daily basis, especially in the months leading up to one of our biggest productions - the annual Crème de la Crème showcase. Since we all adore what we do, we've each decided to give you a taste of what life is like in and out of our creative, fun, sometimes hectic, but never boring, office!

At CountDown Events, we’re so proud of the reputation we’ve earned as Vancouver’s most sought-after event planning and design company. During summer season we are best known by brides for our wedding planning and coordination team, but our days are also spent designing gala fundraisers, corporate affairs and many other special events for our clientele. Our team at CountDown Events & Crème de la Crème is constantly inspired by our principal event planner, Soha Lavin and her dedication to events, passion, and especially her creativity for the show! First in our series of sneak-peeks is a tidbit from Kalyan, Soha's lovely assistant. Enjoy!

"My day usually consists of meetings with the most talented and inspired minds in the wedding industry; as well as meetings with the sweetest couples, excited for the day they get to marry the one they love...corresponding with those whose paths have crossed ours in creating the perfect piece of magnificence for our brides and grooms...having the opportunity to don one of the latest masterpieces of Vera Wang (STUNNING!! How lucky am I?!?) and other incredible designers...watching some of the most spectacular scenes from the office windows as the sun sets over Vancouver...any one, or a combination of these, is a day at CountDown Events for me!

There’s a lot to be done and not enough hours in the day sometimes, but every little thing brings deliciousness with it! There are of course, those times when the day the rose-coloured glasses have to come off! A possible scenario: a phone call comes into the office from a couple who has just finalised the wording for their wedding stationery. The bride’s best friend is visiting from out of town just for that one day and the couple and the best friend really want to see what the invitation will look like printed. Usually, getting a sample print would take a couple of days but we’re so lucky to have great working relationships with such amazing and accommodating vendors who will print a sample right away. In the midst of juggling meetings, we rush to personally pick up the sample for us and take it to the bride, groom and friend! Then, just to stir things up a bit, there are those occasions when a fire alarm may get pulled accidentally during a reception. True story! The alarm was silenced, but as they should, the firemen arrived and wanted to enter the hall to check that it was indeed a false alarm. This of course could not happen because if it did, that’s what would have stood out in the guests’ minds! Our tiny but amazing Soha gracefully stopped these fabulous firemen from interrupting and the bride and groom and their guests were none the wiser! Hectic...never boring!”

“Another aspect of work that I adore is the moment when a bride walks down the aisle and as all eyes are on her, I glance at the groom and he more often than not is in tears. To me, that’s love overflowing, and it’s such a blessing to be able to witness that. Just as wonderful is when at the end of the night the bride and groom tell you how amazing everything looks, and how much they’ve enjoyed their day. That’s the icing on my cake...and boy oh boy, do I love cake!!

Now, leading up to Crème de la Crème, we’re surrounded by even more oodles and oodles of loveliness!! Our goal of making sure that brides-to-be, mothers of brides, and every lovely lady who dreams of her perfect day get to witness t he grandest and greatest of every facet of the wedding industry keeps us busy busy busy. I’m so lucky to be a part of it because I know that whatever it is that makes you feel the best on your wedding day, every lovebird deserves it!"
